DPLSUMMIT23 – AT THE TOP!

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 20th, 2023) – The #DPLSUMMIT was the epitome of a Memorable and Purposeful Endeavor. A True Battle to find the Best Teams at each age group in the DPL. Here we celebrate the Champions, those that made it to THE SUMMIT and those that fell just short. This inaugural event was as spectacular as one could have imagined and the games were intense. Let’s take a closer look at the teams that thrived in the 1st ever SUMMIT Championship.

G2010 – U13 SUMMIT championship

Two big favorites heading into the event made their way to the final and left it all on the field in the DPL SUMMIT CHAMPIONS Bracket. Coming into the final Liverpool IA Socal swept aside Dallas Surf (2-0) and then faced local powerhouse Sunrise Sting. A real battle ended up in a 4-2 Liverpool victory but they were pushed all the way. On the other side of the bracket, Pinecrest Premier dispatched of both Triangle Utd and Rhode Island Surf in close games both ending up 3-2. The final was strongly contested and Pinecrest fell short in a 2-0 loss. Liverpool IA Socal showing their prowess in front of goal and strength of defense. Both of these squads will look to the DPL National Finals in Cincy as their new big challenge.

In the DPL EUROPA SUMMIT Bracket Elk Grove took care of business beating Albion SC Idaho in the final. Elk Grove beat Central Washington Sounders (4-1), NEFC NS (2-1) before a narrow 1-0 game them the trophy. Albion Idaho had shown their quality leading up to the final betaing AZSC (3-1), Central Coast Academy (1-0) and will be looking to build on their performances leading into playoffs.

G2009 – U14 SUMMIT championship

The depth of this age group is frightening. Each game on the Journey to The Summit for both SD Force, 2022 National Champs and Tormenta from the Southeast conference was a challenge. SD Force put away Tophat and Sunrise Sting on their way to the final, with Tormenta beating tough foes Ginga FC and Walnut Creek Surf by fine margins. The Final would be battle with SD Force coming out on top with a 2-1 victory.

In the DPL SUMMIT EUROPA U14 bracket BC United beat Southwest Conference teams SDSC Surf (2-1) and Central Coast Academy (1-0) on the way to the Final vs. Inter Atlanta Blues. The Blues swept aside Florida teams Pinecrest (2-1) and West Florida Flames (3-1). The final saw BC United battle to a 3-0 win.

G2008 – U15 SUMMIT championship

Pinecrest came into the event with a 12-0 record and laid the foundations for a Championship run early beating Blitz Academy 4-0 before swiping away the challenge from NEFC NS in an epic game finishing 5-3. Fellow pre-event favorite City SC were taken care of in a game full of quality (2-0). On the other side of the bracket Southern Soccer Academy showed grit and character beating New Mexico Rush 5-4, LA Surf (2-1) and Cape Coral (4-0). The final saw both teams go at it in a game full of transitions. Pinecrest finished their chances and ended up the champs in a 3-1 battle.

G2007 – U16 SUMMIT championship

Southern Soccer Academy across the full event had some outstanding results and the U16’s were no different. Opening up against West Florida Flames Girls Academy Squad (2-1), before handling local team Pinecrest (2-0) and finishing bracket play and securing top spot by tying Cape Coral (3-3). Triangle United (11-1-4 heading into the event) started like a house on fire taking out West Florida Flames DPL, then narrowly beat City SC (1-0). The last bracket game saw them up against La Roca of the Mountain West Conference coming away with a 2-1 victory. The final was a great show of quality and full of excitement. SSA taking home the victory and the Summit Championship despite a valiant effort from Triangle Utd in a 3-2 win.

G2006 – U17 SUMMIT championship

The Champs delivered, period. Prior to the event we had highlighted the task of wrestling the trophy away from Liverpool IA Socal and we questioned whether they could be knocked off their perch. Storming through the preliminary rounds against Orlando City Lake Nona, Cape Coral and then overcoming fellow Southwest powerhouse SD Force, Tophat lay in wait in the final. Tophat had a tougher run to get to the Championship game having to go through Santa Monica Surf (2-1, PKS), Sunrise Sting (2-1) and FC Tampa Rangers (2-0). Champions just know how to get the job done and Liverpool showed their quality in a tidy 3-0 victory to take the Championship home to SOCAL and place alongside their National Crown.

G2004/05 – U19 SUMMIT championship

This Age group did not disappoint. Undefeated West Florida Flames were a pre-event favorite and scored 9 goals in their opening 3 games vs Orlando City Lake Nona (3-0), Rhode Island Surf (5-2) and City SC (1-0) to set up an epic battle in the Championship game. We told you to keep an eye out for La Roca (8-1-3) from the Mountain West who came into the event with big ambitions. 2-1 victories against Sunrise Sting and Santa Monica Surf brought them face to face with the West Florida Flames GA. La Roca didn’t look back and came away with a 1-0 win setting up the chance to play WFF’s DPL squad for the championship. West Florida Flames DPL are deep and they showed their strength in depth to win 3-1.

The challenge was to rise to the top. To The Summit.

DPLSUMMIT23 – battle to the top!

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 14th, 2022) – The #DPLSUMMIT is a Battle. Let’s take a closer look at the teams in with a chance to take home the 1st ever SUMMIT Championship.

G2010 – U13 SUMMIT championship

Sunrise Sting and their neighbors Pinecrest are big favorites to do well in their home state. There are some undefeated squads coming into the SUMMIT that will leave with a loss on their record. Sting are a perfect 10-0 without even conceding a goal this year in conference play. They will be pushed to the limit by the Southwest leaders Liverpool IA Socal, also undefeated with a big time offense having put away 45 goals across their first 8 conference games. Boulder County United of the Mountain West are also 8-0 without a single goal conceded. On their tails are 3 teams that have only tasted defeat once in Conference, New England Surf, Rhode Island Surf and Triangle United. Any one of those teams are capable of providing the upset.

G2009 – U14 SUMMIT championship

Local Powerhouse Sting bring fire to this age group with a 9-0 record and sitting top of the Florida Conference. Norcal and the Northeast are represented strong with Walnut Creek Surf (6-0) and Ginga (7-0-1) also coming into the competition without a loss. 2022 National Champs SD Force (9-1-0) are in town from the Southwest and Tormenta (13-1-0) from the Southeast conference are also flying high and will be a match for anyone on their day! Colorado Rush (8-1-0), Florida Hawks (9-2-0), and Tophat (10-4-3) round out the top bracket of the age group.

G2008 – U15 SUMMIT championship

12 teams total are vying for the SUMMIT Championship at U15. City SC are 2022 National Finalists and are leading the way in the Southwest Conference (10-0) . They are joined by their Socal counterparts LA SURF (7-1-1). Pinecrest (12-0) are the leading local squad at the event and will be a tough team to beat but the likes of Sting (9-1-1), New Mexico Rush (9-3-0) and SSA (11-2-3) have all proven they are a match for anyone. The wildcards are the Northeast Clubs that have yet to have many conference games under their belts heading into the event but you can expect NEFC NS and RI Surf to be big challenges in this age group.

G2007 – U16 SUMMIT championship

Norcal standouts AllStars United (7-0) are a handful and their opening game against Sunrise Sting (11-0) is one of the matchups of the weekend. City SC (7-0-3) will be ready to compete and there are subtle whispers coming out of the Mountain West that LA Roca (8-1-2) should not be underestimated. Triangle United (11-1-4) and Cape Coral (5-2-2) look to be the best options outside of the favorites in this age group to make a run at the Championship.

G2006 – U17 SUMMIT championship

Games are never won on paper but can you really look past the Reigning National Champs out of the Southwest Conference Liverpool IA Socal (8-0) to take home the SUMMIT Championship? The biggest threats look to come from the Mountain West Club La Roca (10-1-0), fellow Southwest Challengers San Diego Force (7-1-2) and the local girls from Pinecrest (9-1-1). However, capable of pulling off big surprises are LA Surf (5-3-1) and SSA (12-3-1). This going to be epic to watch.

G2004/05 – U19 SUMMIT championship

This looks like a straight up East Coast vs West Coast Battle. On the West Coast side you have Current National Champs and Conference Leaders City SC (8-0-1), who have only dropped points against undefeated Albion SD (7-0-3) in a 3-3 tie as well as National Finalists Santa Monica Surf who are out for revenge. On the East Coast side you have Sunrise (10-0-1), West Florida Flames (11-0) and OC Lake Nona (8-2-0) who are all capable of getting to the SUMMIT. Keep an eye out for La Roca (8-1-3) from the Mountain West a big team with big ambitions this year.

The challenge is to rise to the top. To The Summit.

DPLSUMMIT23 – The CHAMPS are HERE!

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 14th, 2022) – The #DPLSUMMIT is here, lets look at the all the details…

Stretching boundaries

The DPL continues to stretch the boundaries of what is possible for their members. The DPL’s mission to develop the player and empower the person in a purposeful and memorable environment has driven several conversations nationally on how we continue to adapt and push to create an unrivalled experience for top performing teams and players.

We are excited to embrace the launch of The SUMMIT, a Brand-New cup competition for the best teams in the league.

The challenge is to rise to the top. To The Summit.

The Summit hosted by The DPL is an aspirational event earned through Conference Standings and National Event performances. Individual teams have also been invited to compete in a singular event to create a “better on the day” challenge.  This will add quality competition for the most competitive teams in the DPL and qualification is earned on a yearly basis.

This Summit Event will also be the mandatory event for all U13 and U14 teams in the DPL for the 2022/2023 Season. We believe that by bringing our youngest teams into the event, showing them the Journey and the quality within the league it will provide an additional motivator for those players to strive to reach the Summit in subsequent seasons. Modeling their game on the players who have gone before them will aid their own development as a player and person.

The Road will be Tough … Welcome to the Journey.

The DPL in partnership with VEO will capture every game played at the event make these games available after upload FREE to participating players via the VEO Clubhouse link above. In addition 2 fields will be considered FEATURED FIELDS (#1, #6 and #7). The games played on these Featured Fields will be streamed Live with VEO via the VEO Live app (download required, instructions above), this will also be free to watch.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN FLORIDA
